<p><font size="4" face="Arial">Making and playing back a simple multi-track recording</font>

<li><font face="Arial">When first loaded, QTrackLite will open a file called default.qlw
under the recordings sub directory under the directory where you have installed
QTrackLite. All the sounds you now record go into this file. It will set this file up as a
four track file. <br>

<li><font face="Arial">The first two record buttons will be already selected and 'glowing
red'. Your first recording will go into tracks 1 and 2. Note that the record and playback
buttons are selected to STEREO. Leave them this way. <br>

<li><font face="Arial">The next bit's up to you. Find a sound source of some kind and
connect it to the sound card.<br>

<li><font face="Arial">Press the REC button followed by the PLAY button. Start the sounds
going. When you are finished press STOP.<br>

<li><font face="Arial">Notice that the two PLAYBACK buttons for tracks 1 and 2 are also
selected. Now press the PLAY button and listen to your recording. Adjust the faders on
tracks 1 and 2 to alter the sound level. If your recording was from a stereo source, move
the PAN fader for track 1 to the extreme left, and that for track two to the extreme
right. Now you will hear the stereo effect on the playback. <br>

<li><font face="Arial">Now press the two RECORD buttons on tracks 1 and 2 to de- select
them. Press the RECORD button for track 3. Prepare a second and different sound source. <br>

<li><font face="Arial">Press the REC button followed by the PLAY button. This will begin
recording on track 3, together with playback of tracks 1 and 2. Press STOP when you have
finished. <br>

<li><font face="Arial">Press the PLAYBACK button for track 3. Press PLAY to listen to all
three tracks. Adjust the faders to get the right mix. Adjust the PAN controls to create
the required stereo image.<br>

<li><font face="Arial">Finished with this recording and want to try another? Either press
ERASE to clear the file and start again, or if you want to keep this recording, press the
CLOSE button to close it off, and then the NEW button to create a new file to record into.
This will open a dialog box into which you can enter the new file name (and whatever
directory you would like to place it into). <br>
